Fiji offers a range of educational options.
- Short term English language courses for adult students (16 and over), which range from beginner to advanced levels.
- Short term International English language exam preparation courses.
- Full time Kindergarten courses for children aged 3 to 5 years in local schools.
- Children 6 to 15 years full time in Fijian public schools.
- Full time adult public school and university courses for 16 years and over.
Various institutions offer a range of accommodation;
- Homestay – living with a local family in your own room with meals provided. A great way to immerse yourself in the English language and local culture.
- On campus accommodation in single or shared rooms.
- Apartments and shared accommodation.
Visa requirements vary depending on the length of stay required for study.
For periods of up to 12 weeks the student can enter Fiji on a tourist visa, within 14 days the student must apply for a visa to study whilst on a visitors permit. The to complete the visa application the student must present;
- A letter of acceptance and undertaking from the Institution the applicant will be attending.
- Certified copies of the return airline ticket.
- Certified copies of the applicant’s passport (bio-data page).
- Evidence of sufficient funds for ones upkeep whilst in the country ( For example; bank statements, proof of income, letter from employer) .
- If approval is granted, the applicant’s passport
- The requisite fee (FJD$190)
All documents must be in the English language, or be accompanied by an official translation into English. The student must depart Fiji on completion of the study.
If the study period is less than 14 days a special visa is not required.
For long term study (greater than 12 weeks) students must apply for a student permit prior to entering Fiji. A Student Permit allows a person to study at local Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Vocational Institutions or Universities.
Application requirements;
- A properly filled in application in the official form provided by the Immigration Department.
- A police report for applicant over the age of 18 years from the country of citizenship/residence.
- Acceptance letter from the institution/s or school/s.
- Certified copies of the return airline ticket.
- Certified copies of the applicant’s passport (bio-data page).
- A medical report on the correct form.
- 4 passport sized photos with a white background.
- For financially sponsored students - a sponsorship letter from the organization or individual sponsor.
- For self-funding students - proof of financial support for duration of stay.
- A consent letter from the parent of primary and secondary school students.
- Letter of undertaking from the local guardian and or local sponsor (if applicable).
- Proof of financial standings of the local sponsor (if applicable).
- The requisite fee (FJD $230).
